The University fully respects your right to privacy and actively seeks to preserve the privacy rights of those who share information with the University. Any personal information which you volunteer to the University will be treated in accordance with Irish and European Data Protection legislation.
Why and how we collect and process the information and for how long we keep it?
We collect your personal data for the purpose of facilitating and supporting the exchange of transdisciplinary research ideas between practitioners and researchers through our web platform and events programme.
By creating an ECOBROKER account and/or signing up to our mailing list, you (the data subject) are giving
consent to the processing of your personal data for the specific purposes of:
- Using our web platform to share research ideas or collaborate for the purposes of developing or creating a research project;
- To attend our events programme;
- And / or to join our mailing list
We will collect the following types of personal data:
- First and last name
- Email address
- Organisation or workplace
- Research or professional areas of interest
This information is required for the operation of the ECOBROKER web platform and/or mailing list. We will keep your data for as long as ECOBROKER and your registered account is active.
To request an account deletion or to be removed from the mailing list, please email

Who has access to the information and who we share it with?
Internal access: The personal data collected from you will only be accessed by the ECOBROKER team led by
Dr Tamara Hochstrasser at the UCD School of Biology and Environmental Science with support from the
UCD Earth Institute staff.
External access: ECOBROKER will share your data with fellow ECOBROKER participants and only with third parties for the purposes of managing the mailing list.
Your personal data is stored on a
data server located in Ireland and will not be located or made accessible in countries outside the EEA.
What are your rights?
Uses of the ECOBROKER web platform and/or mailing list have the following
rights:
- Right of access
- Right to rectification
- Right to restrict processing
- Right to erasure
- Right to data portability
